Kenya and Tanzania are home to some of the planet’s most vital natural ecosystems. However, the unmatched levels of biodiversity present in areas such as the Serengeti/Mara, and the Greater Ruaha/Selous ecosystems are under threat as the interrelated effects of climate change render wildlife and local communities vulnerable.
A CEO is being recruited for a new foundation to be established in East Africa, temporarily named the “East African Conservation Foundation” in order to tackle this problem.
This Foundation will bring together some of the most important conservation activities currently being supported in Kenya and Tanzania, primarily through BaseCamp Explorer Foundation and Nawiri Group’s Foundation, and their extensive network of implementing partners on the ground. This Foundation will also build on their work for greater impact at scale.
Led by its new CEO, this group will have the ambitious goal of protecting and regenerating these vital ecosystems in ways that secure sustainable livelihoods for the local communities who depend on them.
