Noora Health and LGT Venture Philanthropy partner to train caregivers across public health facilities and community health centres

LGT Venture Philanthropy Foundation (LGT VP) is thrilled to announce its new partnership with non-profit healthcare skills trainer Noora Health. The collaboration will support Noora Health's ambitious six-year initiative to empower 70 million caregivers by giving them essential healthcare knowledge and skills. This is expected to lead to a 20-50 % reduction in patient complication and readmission rates in areas where training is delivered. To maximise impact, Noora Health will focus on deepening its collaboration with local healthcare systems and ensuring access to primary healthcare services in the four countries where it operates - Bangladesh, India, Indonesia and Nepal.

Integrated within health systems, Noora Health’s Care Companion Programme has trained over 24 million caregivers and patients and 21 000 healthcare workers across four countries since 2014.

Noora Health seeks to remove the barriers that prevent individuals and families from seeking and accessing healthcare due to systemic shortcomings in overburdened health systems. Its model centres on collaborating with health systems and governments to implement its unique care companion programme, which provides high-impact primary healthcare skills training to individuals and families. This helps family members become the cornerstone for patient recovery in healthcare facilities and at home, reducing the burden on overstressed healthcare systems. Noora Health's recent expansion into primary care also aims to encourage people to seek healthcare and drive behaviour change across the population.

Noora Health takes a unique approach to transforming complex medical terminology and jargon into more accessible, localised information and advice. By integrating the human element of care, the organisation provides invaluable support to caregivers, patients, and health workers, fostering a culture of empathy and fulfilment in their roles.

In 2024, Noora Health trained 16.4 million caregivers and patients, marking a 305 % year-on-year increase, across a network of approximately 12 000 partner facilities. This expansion not only broadened the organisation’s reach but also deepened its impact. Looking forward, Noora Health will continue to scale impact by increasing direct government and partner delivery of its model, and acting more as an advisor and centralised innovation hub.

Noora Health will invest in building institutional capacity to reach its six-year goals.

With LGT VP’s support, Noora Health will invest in critical organisational functions, including resource mobilisation, evaluation of its primary care model, strengthening legal and compliance frameworks, enhancing finance systems, and bolstering global communication.

Neelima Karath, Investment Manager at LGT VP, says "Our partnership with Noora Health embodies our commitment to strengthening locally rooted organisations delivering effective, scalable solutions to systemic challenges. Noora Health excels in providing crucial medical information through offering engaging content in local languages, ensuring accessibility and comprehension, particularly in low literacy contexts. Its focus on correcting power imbalances in the healthcare system, and proven track record of achieving scale while working closely with public health systems, reinforces our belief in the power of working with systems."

"We're honoured to join forces with LGT VP, a trusted organisation globally that's so aligned with our own values of health equity and accessibility," says Edith Elliott, Co-Founder and Co-CEO of Noora Health.

"LGT VP's support will directly strengthen the Noora Health foundation, from strategically building our operational capacity to meet the needs of our rapidly growing team, to playing a key role in achieving our ambitious advocacy goals for caregiving," says Shahed Alam, Co-Founder and Co-CEO of Noora Health.

Noora Health, founded in 2014, works by creating a scalable programme for caregiving education and training within established healthcare systems. Its model provides basic yet vital care knowledge through trusted providers. This model expands the care umbrella to include those closest to the patient - their family and community.
