Digital health nonprofit Khushi Baby and LGT Venture Philanthropy Foundation have partnered to strengthen primary health care and transform public health systems in rural India by scaling digital solutions that empower community health workers, health officials, and delivery partners.
The partnership will expand the reach of Khushi Baby’s innovative Community Health Integrated Platform (CHIP) - a digital system that enables community health workers to track patient health and strengthen decision-making - and enhance the integration of tech-first solutions into government systems that improve health outcomes at scale across rural India.
Mohammed Shahnawaz, Co-Founder and Chief Operating Officer of Khushi Baby, said: "We’re excited to partner with LGT VP in realising our shared vision - a future where every child, family, and village can achieve happiness and wellbeing. Our collaboration comes at a pivotal time for Khushi Baby as we scale our operations across three states, working hand in hand with their governments. LGT VP’s commitment to strengthening health systems through deep government collaboration mirrors our approach, and their financial and non-financial support is critical for our success."
CHIP serves as a one-stop solution for community health workers to collect comprehensive community health data and track patients longitudinally for high-risk pregnancies, malnutrition, TB, immunisations, non-communicable diseases, and more. Through an integrated data collection model, health officials can now access all necessary health and socio-economic data on a single dashboard-further enhanced by predictive analytics that help health officials and partners like the WHO allocate resources efficiently and launch targeted health campaigns to improve coverage and reduce preventable mortality rates.
Archish Gupta, Investment Manager, LGT Venture Philanthropy, explains: "LGT VP’s Health Strategy aims at strengthening organisations’ capacity to improve health outcomes by working in partnership with the government. Khushi Baby’s approach to improve health outcomes by integrating digital health solutions within government systems, while building capacity of frontline workers and health officials, aligns perfectly with our vision. Their proven model enhances last-mile healthcare by equipping frontline workers and officials with real-time data insights while providing strategic advisory and capacity-building support to the government."
With LGT VP’s backing, Khushi Baby will prioritise scaling its proven interventions, deepening collaboration with state governments, and further embedding its digital health solutions within public health infrastructure. The partnership will also spearhead capacity-building efforts towards a Comprehensive Primary Healthcare approach by enhancing health worker training, boosting data-driven decision-making, and generating evidence on the successes and challenges in community digital health to ultimately improve health system efficiency, interoperability, health outcomes, and resource allocation.
Khushi Baby, a digital health nonprofit founded in 2014, partners with India's Ministries of Health to design, develop, implement, and evaluate digital health systems for community health management. Initially focused on tracking immunisations in Udaipur, it later scaled its digital health solution in partnership with Rajasthan’s Ministry of Health, playing a key role in the COVID-19 response. This led to the development of the Community Health Integrated Platform (CHIP), a scalable system co-designed with community health workers. Today, CHIP is used by 75,000 Community Health Workers across 40,000 villages, monitoring the health of 50 million people. The Government of India has sanctioned USD 20 million to further scale CHIP in Rajasthan. For more information, visit www.khushibaby.org
